The grape harvest gets underway at Bodegas Sobreño in what is expected to be an excellent campaign
Grape harvesting has begun in the old vines and will continue in stages over the next 15 days.
Toro (Zamora), 21 September 2021
Bodegas Sobreño has begun the 2021 harvest of its more than 80 hectares of vineyards in Toro (Zamora). Harvesting began on Monday 20 September in the old vines, some of which are more than 75 years old, which are in an optimum state of ripeness after a late budding. Harvesting will continue in stages over the next two weeks, adjusting to the ripening of the grapes.
The climatic conditions of this cycle have been characterised by abundant winter rains that have allowed the vines to have significant water reserves to complete the cycle without stressing the plant. Thanks to this, the grapes have reached balanced pH and acidity levels that will guarantee fresh and long-lasting wines, and make us foresee an excellent campaign.
Bodegas Sobreño is a winery committed to the environment and quality. Of its 80 hectares of vineyards, more than a quarter are dedicated to organic farming. The selection of the grapes determines the destination of the wide range of wines it produces: Finca Sobreño Roble, Finca Sobreño Crianza, Finca Sobreño Ecológico, Finca Sobreño Reserva and Finca Sobreño Ildefonso. These clean, bright and well-balanced red wines are renowned throughout the world, as 75% of their production is exported to 25 countries.
Bodegas Sobreño is a family winery in the D.O. Toro that has been making great wines since its foundation in 1998 from the Tinta de Toro grape variety for demanding, high quality markets, faithful to the philosophy of respect for the land.
