Toro (Zamora), 24 March 2021
From Seville come new medals for all Bodegas Sobreño wines. The international competition 'Mundial de Tempranillo y sus Sinonimias' has recognised the winery from Toro (Zamora) with five Gold medals for the Finca Sobreño Roble 2020, the Finca Sobreño Ecológico 2020, the Finca Sobreño Selección Especial 2016 and the Finca Sobreño Ildefonso 2017.
This year, Seville was the chosen venue for the competition, which values the quality of wines made from Tempranillo, "the most important native variety in the Spanish wine scene", according to the organisers. On 17 and 18 March, a jury of specialist tasters such as importers, distributors, sommeliers, oenologists and critical journalists with wide international recognition, tasted a total of 549 samples from eight Designations of Origin in Spain, of which 116 were awarded medals.
100% Tinta de Toro grape variety
All Bodegas Sobreño wines are made from the prized Tinta de Toro grape variety, which makes Finca Sobreño red wines, clean, bright and very balanced, with intense colour, body and structure.
The Toro winery, which has 80 hectares of its own vineyards, takes great care over the entire vegetative cycle of the vines to obtain the best grapes, which are then selected in search of the characteristics that stand out in each of its wines, which have once again been recognised in an international competition.
Its commitment to the environment and quality, always maintaining the tradition of grape growing and adapting to new technologies, has made Bodegas Sobreño one of the most recognised brands in Toro, exporting 75% of its wines to 25 countries.
Bodegas Sobreño is a family winery in the D.O. Toro that has been making great wines since 1999 from the Tinta de Toro grape variety for demanding, high quality markets.
