Once again, the Asian market is focused on the wines of Bodegas Sobreño, which has received two Gold medals at the international CWA 'Best Value' ('China Wine & Spirit Awards') for Finca Sobreño Ecológico 2020 and Finca Sobreño Reserva 2016 - Selección Especial. In addition, the competition awarded Silver and Bronze medals to Finca Sobreño Crianza 2018 and Finca Sobreño Ildefonso 2016 respectively.
The CWSA, considered one of the most prestigious international competitions and the largest wine competition in Hong Kong and China, opens the door for the winners to the booming Chinese market. China is the fastest growing wine industry in terms of production and consumption and the largest market for some of the world's leading wine producing countries. In this edition of the competition, a jury of 100 experts - importers, distributors, retailers and sommeliers - catalogued wines from 55 countries using a blind tasting system.
Finca Sobreño Ecológico is a fresh wine, full of aromas, round and elegant, deserving, among other awards, 91 points from the critic James Suckling, and a 'Gran Oro' medal in the Ecoracimo 2020 competition, which awards every year the best organic wines in the world. Like all Bodegas Sobreño wines, Finca Sobreño Ecológico is made from 100% Tinta de Toro grapes. This wine is aged for four months in American oak barrels of less than 4 years old.
The Finca Sobreño Reserva - Selección Especial is a powerful, meaty and velvety wine that is aged for 14 months in American oak barrels and rests for 12 months in the bottle before being released onto the market. Among other awards, it has received excellent scores in different publications, such as the 93 points awarded by the prestigious expert Robert Parker in 'The Wine Advocate', or the 92 points awarded by Stephen Tanzer in 'The International Wine Cellar'.
Bodegas Sobreño is a family winery in the D.O. Toro, with 80 hectares of its own vineyards, and takes great care of the entire vegetative cycle of the vine to obtain the best grapes, which are then selected in search of the characteristics that stand out in each of its wines.
Its commitment to the environment and quality, always maintaining the tradition of grape growing and adapting to new technologies, has made Bodegas Sobreño one of the most recognised brands in Toro, exporting 75% of its wines to 25 countries.
